After one year of ripening, this extra matured farmhouse cheese becomes one of the classics among farmhouse cheeses. By stirring the curd longer (the first stage of cheese after the milk) during the first production, the cheese becomes less moist. This allows the extra matured farm cheese to ripen longer. This cheese has been rewarded with several awards.

Farmhouse cheese is made by using raw milk. Because it is handcrafted, the fat content can vary. The name has been protected by the European Union as a Traditional Speciality Guaranteed. Dutch cheese according to traditional and controlled methods on a farm may be sold as farmhouse cheese. The farmhouse cheese range consists of two age variants.

“Oudelandse Boeren Pikant Belegen” has been rewarded for its exceptional taste at the Great Taste Awards in England. In this cheese inspection, “Oudelandse Boeren” deserves one golden star in its class: cheese made from cow’s milk. Approved by at least three different panels showed that the cheese achieved the gradation: ‘close to perfect’. ‘A tasty farm cheese with a good structure. Buttery and very creamy! A cheese with character’, says the jury. A true reward for this authentic farmhouse cheese.
